Ingredients & Directions
- 1 pound 85% lean ground beef
- 1/2 cup yellow onion, finely chopped
- 3/4 cup water
- 1/2 cup Pace® Picante Sauce
- 1/2 cup Pace® Signature Sauces Classic Taco Sauce
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons light brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 6 Pepperidge Farm® Farmhouse® Brioche Hamburger Buns
Heat a large nonstick skillet over medium-high. Add ground beef and onion; cook, stirring often to crumble beef, until browned, about 5 minutes. Drain any excess grease and return beef to skillet.
Add water, Pace® Medium Picante Sauce, Pace® Classic Taco Signature Sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, and pepper; stir until well combined. Season with salt. Bring to a simmer over medium-low; cook, stirring often, until sauce thickens and coats the beef well, 10 to 12 minutes.
Spoon ½ cup beef mixture on bottom halves of buns. Top with bread-and-butter pickle chips.
Tips
Ground turkey is an equally delicious replacement for ground beef here. Just make sure to use a mix of light and dark meatnot ground turkey breast.
The Sloppy Joe mixture can be refrigerated in an airtight container for up to 4 days. When youre ready to serve, reheat it on the stovetop over low, or in the microwave until warmed through; add a splash of water or broth if it thickens too much.
Serve this dish with sweet potato fries or tots for a hearty combo.
Top sloppy joes with bread and butter pickle slices.
